Resigned to the fact I wouldn't be getting back to sleep I got up and made a cuppa, then I made another cuppa and had my sausage and black pudding butties. Melissa sent me the following picture of Penny enjoying her breakfast of what appears to be a Wotsit.
Full of a hearty breakfast I strapped on my (loaned) hiking boots and set out on a walk to break the shoes in, and see if I was capable of walking further than the end of the road.
I had decided earlier in the day that I was going to walk to Ashurst Beacon. Google Maps wanted me to go along the main roads, but I knew there was a public footpath nearby, so that was my first stop. Now, to say the footpath wasn't clearly marked would be something of an understatement, and I kept having to check google maps on my phone to check my location relative to my destination. At one point I was apparently stood in the middle of a stream.

I reached my destination in about an hour, which I thought was good going.
Melissa said she LOVED the swing, despite what her face says. Apparently she's getting one for her birthday, which means I have a LOT of work to do in the garden this spring and summer.
I spent the afternoon sat on the couch watching TV shows, and then phoned my mum and dad and made my tea (pizza). I spoke to Melissa who informed me that Penny's been laughing all day at her aunty Maggie making silly noises. I could hear her in the background. It was adorable.
This evening, a film and an early night due. Got a busy day tomorrow, which involves highlights including but not exclusive to hoovering and tidying out the the shoe cupboard.
See you then!
