Day 382

Slept incredibly well. 8 straight hours.

Explain, then, how I was tired by 10am. It makes no sense. Was quite a hectic day, but productive nonetheless. The weather was lovely so went for a walk at lunchtime, ending at Subway for my daily latte and cookie noms.

Hung around at work till half 4 in a meeting and then headed out to the car. I'm borrowing my mother in laws Tigra convertible for a couple of days, while they're down south in our car. I decided that, as it was a lovely day, I was going to put the roof down. It's automatic, shouldn't take longer than about 90 seconds. It took me 20 minutes. What a faff. The bastard thing kept beeping at me, the boot kept going half down. In the end I relented and phoned Melissa to find out what I was doing wrong. It was sorted in seconds, rather embarrassingly, and I was off to (the) ASDA.

Because it took 20 minutes to get the roof down, I decided to drive to (the) ASDA in Wigan. The drive was mostly pleasant, although there was a minor traffic jam at some traffic lights. I got to (the) ASDA, parked up, spent another 20 minutes putting the roof back up, and made my way inside. I'd decided I wanted a curry-for-one for tea, and stood in the queue for it for, I don't know, ever. They didn't have bhajis left. Thank god I didn't have a chainsaw with me, otherwise heads would have been lost. I picked up some other stuff, essentials such as sausages, black pudding, bread and milk (breakfast, basically) and headed to the checkout.

Another 20 minutes at the checkout while the couple in front of me quibbled with the old lady behind the till over the price a small stuffed bear. It was £1, not £3 apparently.

Out to the car, still keeping my cool, roof back down in about half the time, then I drove home. In my head I was listening to I Drove All Night by Roy Orbison, except it wasn't my wife that was waiting for me, it was an ice cold bottle of Becks.

2 hours I spent shopping in total. I can't help but think I'd be half drunk by now if I'd just gone to the local (the) ASDA. Anyway, I have my beer now. I will drink it, and microwave my curry, and drink more beer and watch a film. Maybe the cats will join me tonight. They kept their distance last night. They could have slept on the bed with me, but they slept downstairs. I've never felt more unwanted. I was made to feel a lot better when Melissa text me to say that Penny was missing me, and that all she'd been saying all day is "da da da da da da".

Have a great weekend folks!
