It's been a few weeks, so I thought I'd do a post while Melissa finishes the ironing.
We've not been up to much really. I mean, we've both been and work and Penny's been a little menace, but what else is new.
Penny started nursery properly today, which meant full uniform. Her supervisor Gale gave high praise indeed. She brought home a painting she'd done. I couldn't quite understand what it was supposed to be of, but when I asked her what colour it was she told me "owinge" even though it was very definitely blue.
She's been absolutely fine, aside from a minor illness blip earlier in the week. She woke up at about 11:30 while Melissa was at work and she was burning hot and shaking. She was fine, otherwise. Chatting away, insistent on watcing Peppa Pig with me in bed and so forth, but she was hot, hot, hot.
The next day, after an afternoon in town with Becky, Jim, Tina and the kids she took her to the hospital as her temperature seemed to spike again. Her throat was bright red, and all signs pointed to a viral infection.
Melissa brought her home, then went to work, and then a man came with a bottle of kiddy ibuprofen which was hastily administered. She went to bed and slept just fine.
The following day we went to Blackpool Pleasure beach with Becky, Jim, Tina and the kids. The kids had gone back to school for the most part, so we barely queued for anything. Result. Penny was fine, Becky, Jim and Tina were fine and the kids, Amelia and Josh gave me a frightening glimpse at the future. They were very well behaved, don't get me wrong, they just didn't stop. It didn't help that Amelia, four, took it upon herself to consume her entire body weight in candy floss.
Once we'd 'done' the fair, we went for a drink, then we went for (the worst) fish and chips (ever), and then home, under the illuminations. We'd hoped Penny would stay awake for the Dora section. She didn't. Poor kid was knackered. We all had a fantastic time.
Aside from the trip to Blackpool there's little else to share. Penny was supposed to have a drama group thing today, but it was cancelled so she just tore round Pipsqueaks with Harry. They've figured out the big slide now so Melissa and Emma just sat the bottom gabbing while the kids went round and round in circles. Up and down, up and down.
I suppose, then, that's it for a few weeks.
Adios amigos!
