We've been up to loads recently. The big girls bed situation isn't going terribly, and we've not had too many issues that I can't resolve by shouting at her. Or giving her a stern talking to, depending on your point of view.
We've had guests staying this past week, Melissa's cousins from Devon. We've taken them to the Sea Life Centre in Manchester (not bad, worth the £12 discounted price you get on line, also, booking online advisable due to excessive queues). Penny was a big fan of the turtles.
We also took Penny to see Iggle Piggle and the gang at In The Night Garden Live which she loved.
She's talking more and more, near sentences, and she'll say things that neither of us have taught her, which is always good fun.
We've had cracking weather for as long as I can remember, so naturally it lagged down all day for her birthday. It didn't keep the kids of the bouncy castle though, and a good time was had by all. Except my father in law, who lost his brass, magnetic, bottle opening donkey. The poor chap is inconsolable.
Loads of cake, sweets, drinks and friends ... and that's enough for a good old fashioned party. We barely let the rain affect us due to a massive marquee that we erected in the garden.
I got home at 23:30, ish, with the neighbours, who were kind enough to let me jump in their taxi once we realised there wouldn't be enough room for me to sleep (comfortably) at the in laws house.
Melissa woke me up at about 8:30am to inform me my father in law as coming to collect me after a trip to the tip. Fortunately for him he brought good news of sausage butties, but also, unfortunately for him, he brought bed news about his donkey, which was still MIA.
The rest of today has been spent clearing up the aftermath of the party, and just everyone basically feeling knackered.
Thanks to everyone who came, and to everyone who sent cards and gifts. Thanks to family, and friends and, well, just thank you again.
Happy birthday to my princess, and well done to Melissa for organising the whole thing. And to nanny for the delicious cake, which certain parties believe wasn't portioned out fairly.
This evening we're getting Chinese food, and I'm getting a beer. Back to work tomorrow.
This is not my happy face.
