Day 823, 824 and 825.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I couldn't be bothered.

Friday was, for what I can remember of it, a good day. Err, I mean, nothing of not happened throughout the day as such, that I can recall at least, but at 4pm Melissa picked me up from work (after a mad dash round The Concourse for balloons) and we went home, got changed, Penny and me had a shower, and we were out the door by 5:30pm to The White Lion (The Stanley closed down) for Melissa's dad's surprise 60th birthday party.

He arrived about 20 minutes late having played the good Samaritan and helped a guy who was having car trouble. He was thoroughly surprised, and after one of the worst DJ/karaoke experiences of my life, and a hijacked football awards ceremony Melissa, Penny and myself headed home at about 10pm.

Penny was knackered. I gave her some milk and within seconds she was asleep.

Of course, she was awake at about 7am on Saturday morning, but that's not important. She had her nap and then, early afternoon, the three of us headed over to New Brighton to see my mum and dad, go for a mooch on the beach, and get a coffee. We had a nice time but the wind was a little cold and somewhat spoiled the mooch on a beach at first; Penny wasn't keen to get down and play. But she did, eventually and on the way back to the car she fell over and grazed her knee. "Ow! Knee! Knee!" she said. I rubbed it better and we headed off for coffee.

We parted ways and headed up to Melissa's mum and dads for a bit of a bbq. It was a small crowd, however, and proved to be good practice for subsequent bbqs I'm bound to host in the coming months. Penny got her hands on some of the icing from the birthday cake and we had to peel her off the ceiling at one point. It was all fun and games and she nodded off the second we got home.

Of course, Sunday morning saw her wake up at 6 o'clock in the fucking morning. I got up with her and let Melissa lie in, because I'm good like that, and because Melissa's been having problems with her sinuses and has not really been sleeping well.

At 8:30am Penny went back to sleep and I watched Arrested Development while the two main women in my life slept. It was a good Sunday morning, in retrospect.

Anyway, the window of tranquillity was soon shattered when they both woke up. Fortunately, they were both in good moods and not too grouchy and, in any case, Lea and Hannah came round with Dylan a litte later and me and Lea went to the cinema to see Iron Man 3.

We headed back to Melissa's mum and dads then for a birthday bbq (official) and I cooked burgers and sausages before we headed home at about 7pm and put Penny down for the night.

Or so we thought.

At 11pm, just as we turned our light out to go to sleep, who should wake up, but Penny. It was 1:44am when we finally relented and put her in bed with, where she wriggled around for a further 30 minutes or so, kicking me in the head on numerous occasions and just generally being all squirmy. I ended up sleeping with one of her feet in the back of my head and one in my ear and waking up with her arse in my face. Fun.

Work was alright today. Hot though. It's been a glorious day, weather wise and Penny's been out and about to the park, and playing in the garden and so forth. She went to bed at about 7pm and Melissa and I have cleaned the house from top to bottom.

I'm currently eating an unhealthy amount of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and contemplating a beer, while I wait for the live streaming of the new Boards of Canada album. I don't know what Melissa's up to, but I have my headphones on and my music on loud, so it's of no consequence really. I'm sure if she wants me she'll text me.

Let's hope Penny sleeps through tonight, although, with the amount of sugar I've just consumed, I doubt I will. Maybe I'll go into Penny's room, stick my foot in her ear and see how she likes it.

Normal service resumes tomorrow!
