Day 751 and 752

Apologies for the lack of blog yesterday; I was knackered. I posted the photos. What more do you want?!

Wednesday was alright, by and large. Fairly uneventful day at work, followed by the opposite when I got home.

Penny, who had been a bundle of energy and fun all evening, went to bed at about 7am. Melissa and I pottered until I got in to bed at about 9pm to catch up on our shows. I fell asleep almost immediately and was awoken about 90 minutes later by Melissa shouting me in to Penny's room. She'd gone in to check on her and found her awake, looking for a dummy. Just as she went to plug her back in she puked. Everywhere. Big, chunky, cheesy puke.

She got her out her cot, and more puke followed. Her demeanour was fine, relatively speaking, she was just super pukey. Once there was nothing left to come out she was dry heaving, with bits of bile and snot. It was delicious.

We decided to have her in bed with Melissa while I 'slept' on the couch. None of us slept well, Penny was heaving all night. Melissa estimates they got about 3 hours between them. I didn't get much more. I neglected to close the door and woke up with a small, horny cat pawing my face at about 4am. And I needed a wee at about 5am.

I gave in, and got up at about 6am, I could hear the girls were also awake. Melissa filled me in on her tale of woe and I decided to take the morning off work to go to the hospital with the both of them. In the end, though, we decided to try and get some fluid in Penny and I'd go to work. If I was needed, I was just down the road.

According to reports she was alright, for most of the day. Touch wood the last time she's thrown up is about 9am. She's steadily been taking in fluid, including something called Dioralyte which you give to people who've been throwing up loads (it's also good for hangovers, apparently). It's basically a saline solution with extra vitamins and stuff. So she's had a fair old whack of that today, as well as a little over half a Jaffa Cake (who can resist Jaffa Cakes?) As with last night, her demeanour, though a little lethargic and listless, has been pretty good. Willing to give a high five at the drop of a hat, and finding enormous fun in poking me in the belly button.

She's currently snuggled in bed with Melissa, doing stinky farts and groaning occasionally. I'm mentally preparing myself for another night on the couch, and hoping tomorrow night she's a little better.

A small nugget of good news today : We received a letter saying we'd finally finished paying for the couch we bought from CSL four years ago when we bought the house, which, you know, is nice.

See you tomorrow, with more Penny news, and less couch news.
