Day 698 and 699

Saturday and Friday.

Someone told me that on Friday night we got worse snow than anywhere else in the country. However, the person who told me that was my father in law, so take it with a pinch of salt. However, there were photos from Wigan on the Daily Mail website, which is pretty big news. Basically, though, we got a LOT of snow in a short space of time.

We woke up on Saturday and it was still there, but it had rained a bit and it was relatively warmer than it had been. It wasn't going to hang around, and was already melting quite conclusively.

We lounged about the house for most of the day, the snow having scuppered our exciting plans to go to in to Wigan or Aintree, or some other bustling metropolis. But, my early afternoon I decided I was going to dig the car out. So out I went with a shovel, a brush and some salt I'd panic-bought at (the) ASDA a few weeks ago. Melissa and Penny played in a sledge. They did not help me.

That evening, once Penny was in bed and the rain had well and truly started, Ellen and Andrew came round for some drinks and some food. We ate heartily.

Once they left Melissa and I went to bed to embrace the heartburn that was sure to come. And come it did.

Sunday morning Melissa and Penny got up and left me to doze for like, an hour or something, then I Skype'd my mum and dad with Penny, who was wandering round naked, airing off a nasty nappy rash she's acquired. Fun.

Afterwards, with most of the snow gone, we drove up to Aintree for some much needed cat litter, then up to Mel's mum and dads for Sunday lunch.

Then we came home, Melissa was knackered, Penny was exhausted and I was the only one still standing. Penny mustered up enough strength to watch Toy Story, though.

After that we watched The Snowman for what felt like the millionth time this weekend, and then we chucked Penny in the bath. Melissa's putting her to bed, and I fully expect to be putting Melissa to bed soon, too, which leaves me free to watch whatever I want. Early night though, as it's Monday tomorrow, for those of you who've lost track.

See you later!
