Happy new year to you all!
New years eve was spent in work where I was pretty damn busy for most of the damn day. I got a lift home with Howard and Melissa and Penny met me there. We gave Penny a nap much later than usual to tide her over for the evening and then, at around 7pm we headed up to Melissa's mum and dads for a party.
The venue had been moved to the neighbours, the Goughs, as more people turned up than expected.
At about 8:30pm my mum and dad arrived and we all talked and drank and ate. Penny scuttled around with a big grin on her face and had a great time. My chilli went down a treat, and before it was midnight and we were exploding things in the garden.
We had a quick Skype with New Zealand and then my mum and dad went home and Melissa and I took a very, very tired Penny home.
She slept until about 9:30am and then we got up and headed back to Melissa's mum and dads for breakfast.
Once we'd eaten too much we came home and I set about building Penny's new kitchen. A task cut short, much to my dismay, when I learned there was no instructions. I phoned (the) ASDA hotline and "Natasha" suggested phoning the store I got it from to see if they could give me an instruction sheet out of one of the in stock models, so I spoke to a very helpful man called Mike who said he'd photocopy me a set of instructions and I could go and pick them up this very afternoon. So off I went, into Wigan, on a match day.
Someone I managed to avoid all the traffic, got my instructions off Mike, as well as a minor shop for my weekly buttys, and then made my way to Starbucks for a latte-shaped reward.
Home, then, and I set about constructing the kitchen with my trust electric screwdriver.
Once complete we headed back to Melissa's mum's for a roast dinner, then home to bath Penny and put her to bed. Melissa's back in work tomorrow so I put Penny to bed, just so she knows what to expect tomorrow.
This evening, the original plan was to take down one of the Christmas trees, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.
I may have a whisky later.
Back to work properly in the morning.
