Just after 11pm Penny woke up. Just after 2am she went back to sleep. Knackered.
It rained like it was going out of fashion for most of the night, and most of the day, but that didn't stop me darting out to the concourse at lunch time.
Here follows a brief description of the events that unfolded (possible pun) at The Card Factory:
Went out for a walk at lunch, popped into The Card Factory with some people and was just browsing. I happened to notice a massive display of Christmas cards and thought "it's September, that's funny" so I took a couple of pictures for Facebook, as is my way. A short, fat man came over and said "Can I help you?" to which I replied "No, I'm just waiting for my friends" and he went off and came back and said "Were you taking pictures of these Christmas cards?" I replied "Yes" and he said "Why?" and I said "Because it's September". Failing to spot the ridiculousness, he just stared at me and I explained "It's September. Christmas isn't until December. I think that's funny." He said "We don't allow people to take photos in our shop. Do you work for Coop? They have their Christmas displays up". I said "Oh, I don't go in there very often". He was obviously very angry, and incredibly confrontational which annoyed me more than anything. He said "What are you going to do with the photos?" I said "I was going to put them on Facebook because it's funny. Can you not see it's funny?" and he said "We do our own publicity" and I said "Do you want me to delete the photos?" and he said "Yes". So I did and walked off, angrier than I've been in a long time. His attitude enraged me more than anything else. If he'd politely explained the situation there'd have been no problem, but he was picking an argument with me. He wanted a fight. Fortunately I'm calm in the face of such adversity and instead spitting in his mouth and setting fire to his face I'll be writing an email to their customer services department later on, and never shopping there again.
Needless to say there are no photos of the ridiculous card display. Needless to say I've written a letter of complaint. Needless to say I won't shopping at The Card Factory ever again.
Anyway, I was moderately busy at work this afternoon, and time seemed to pass quite slowly. I was thankful to get out of there at 4pm and get home to to Melissa and Penny.
We ate our tea and then Melissa went to work and Penny and me played with her toys. She got tired and grumpy at around 6:30 so I chucked her in the bath, washed the fruit and crisps out of her hair and got her ready for bed.
She nodded off at about 7:15 at which point I wrote the aforementioned letter of complaint to The Card Factory.
Knackered. Dishes, then bed. I'm sure Melissa asked me to do something else, actually. I hope I remember what it is...
See you tomorrow.
