Day 558 and 559

Friday wasn't a great night for Penny. She It was about 5am (I forget specifics) when she woke up, and 7am before she went back to sleep. Then, at 9am, we all woke up. Melissa opened her eyes about 30 minutes later, and then we got up.

I did us some lovely breakfast and at just before 1pm, while Melissa packed up our stuff I took Penny for a drive to get her to go to sleep. I came back, collected Melissa and we were off to Wallasey to spend the weekend with my parents.

We popped in to see Stew's mum on the way, and by 3pm we were at my mum and dads. By 4pm we were on our way to my aunty Anne's for a lovely barbecue.

Penny reading a story.

Penny developing a taste for rosé wine.
Penny was incredibly well behaved all day, and knackered by the time we left, at about 7:30pm. We assumed she'd go straight to sleep, and after a bit of an argument, she surely did.

Melissa and I then joined my mother and father for lemoncello, cheese and wine and conversation for a few hours. It was upon going to bed that Penny decided she didn't want to sleep any more, and so, at about 11:30pm she was awake, and by 2am she was finally nodding back off.

Hopes for a lie in were somewhat dashed when, at 7:15am or so, she was wide awake again.

We took her downstairs and gave her breakfast and she played in the living room, crawling round on the carpet, climbing up tables, reading books about ships. She escaped at one point and made her way up stairs. We though, by 9:30am she'd have a bit of a kip, as she must have been knackered. Nope.

10am came around and we went swimming. A lot of fun. She loves the water. Just before 11am we got out, and by 11:20am she was nodding off. Melissa and I loaded her into her buggy and we headed in to Liscard for lunch, before going to meet baby Dylan. Penny finally nodded off, about 2 minutes from home and was asleep for about 45 minutes. She woke up, had her lunch and off we went to see baby Dylan.

He's tiny. They reckon he's 8lb1oz but he doesn't look it. I have no recollection of Penny being that sort of size, but apparently, she was smaller.

We walked home then, the long way, hoping to get a bit of a kip out of Penny. We got about 10 minutes before she woke up, hungry.

Our first roast dinner in months was a great success, so thanks to my mother for that. I inhaled it, as Penny was distracted with Pombears and yoghurt.

Mess.

We headed home after dinner, hoping Penny wouldn't drift off, and credit to her, she didn't until we were about a mile from the front door. We called in to see Mel's mum and dad to drag out bed time a little bit, and then headed home.

Bath, bottle, bed. That's the preferable order of things. So far we've had bath and bottle. I don't remember "giggle" being in the plan, but there does appear to be a lot of giggling coming from her bedroom.

I'm going to go and put a stop to that, and then, have aan early night (once I've made Melissa iron me a shirt for work).

Thanks to aunty Anne and uncle Dennis for a lovely barbecue, and thanks to mum and dad for having us, and for lunch and everything else in general.

Normal service resumes tomorrow, with your standard "ugh, Monday" blog.

See you!
