Penny woke up at about 4am, not crying, not moaning, just awake. She played in bed with us for an hour or so, then Melissa gave her a bottle, and I put her to sleep. I'm getting good at it now.
It was almost 9am before I got up. Melissa and Penny got up just after 8am I think. The rest of the morning was taken up amusing Penny, doing bits of cleaning and watching The Avengers and Ultimate Spider-Man on DisneyXD.
At some point we drove up to Melissa's mum and dads to introduce Penny to Uncle Art and Aunty Marg and then I took a car full of
Once that was done I dropped Melissa, Penny and the girls home and hit (the) ASDA up, gangster style. I got home and, thankfully found Penny asleep, allowing me to gorge myself on toast and pot noodle while the girls had their lunch and Melissa had a shower.
2pm rolled around and we popped in on the neighbours to celebrate their little girls first birthday. The weather at the start of the day had been mostly hideous, but, as was the case last week for Penny's birthday, it cleared up and they had a glorious afternoon. We all did, lovely people, lovely food, lovely, lovely cider. It all went sour at 3pm though, when Mickey and Minnie Mouse turned up. The birthday girl was loving it, but most of the other kids were shit scared. Penny included.
Once they left the party got into full swing, with dancing, cake, jelly, chicken curry and more cider. Thank you, neighbours, for being such gracious and welcoming hosts. And thank you for the chicken curry. I'm bitter I didn't get a party bag, but I'll get over it. Penny can't possibly eat all her flump.
8pm came round and we brought Penny home. Melissa got her to sleep while I amused the girls. We watched The Princess Bride, and as is almost always the case, Melissa went to bed and Gracie fell asleep. Me and Maggie enjoyed it though. So that's all that matters.
Bed time now. There's potential for another long day tomorrow, provided the weather holds up.
See you then!
