Day 527

I'm too tired to type this.

Penny woke up at 4:30am. I got up with her, but she refused to go back to sleep. Every time she nodded off and I put her down she'd wake up again. At about 5:30am I took her downstairs to watch Wonder Pets and she played about until about 7am. I was in danger of falling asleep on the couch while she climbed over everything in her way, and just before 7:30am I took her back to bed. Melissa put her down and she fell straight to sleep.

I, too, did likewise.

It was about 8:35am when I woke up then, to take Melissa to work. Not enough sleep. Not even close. I brought Penny home, we had breakfast and she played and played until just before 10:45am when she got whingey and grumpy and was clearly still very tired.

I brought her upstairs and tried to snuggle her to sleep, but every time she nodded off she woke herself off again. This went on for about 40 minutes and I got steadily angrier. She was immune to my threats, however, as she does not speak or understand English.

I dragged her downstairs, shoved her in her high chair and gave her a box of raisins. Silence. For 5 minutes. I made my lunch in that time, and, in between mouthfuls, fed Penny hers. The postman arrived bringing with him a mysterious parcel from New Zealand. It was from my brother and his fiancĂ©e and, much to my disappointment, was addressed to Penny, not me. It's her birthday next week. Selfish.

I was rescued at 12:10pm by my mother in law. She cleaned up Penny (I really had lost the will at this point) while I had a shower to hide my tears, then she dropped me at the Concourse where I got a latte from Subway, and the girl asked, no, FORCED me to buy 3 cookies for the price of 2.

Work was thankfully Olympic oriented again, with little bits of actual work thrown into the mix for good measure. Andrea came over to say "hello", she said, but I think she was on the prowl for free cookies again. I solved Linda's abbreviation quiz (it was mobile telephone banking) and then it was time to go home. Thankfully.

(the) ASDA on the way, obviously, then I cooked tea while Melissa bathed Penny, fed her and put her to bed.

Definitely an early night tonight. With maybe a beer chucked in for good measure.

Maybe.
