Day 523 (part 2) and day 524.

The afternoon went swimmingly with much beer and cider drunk, much curry eaten and many medals won. I'll be honest though, the medals were nothing to do with me. Although we were in a pub shouting very loudly at a TV as Jessica Ennis came home in the 800 metres. So maybe we did have something to do with it.

I was home by about half 10 and only slightly worse for wear.

At 4am I awoke to a crying baby, staggered out of bed, into a door, and then into Penny's room. I was careful not to wake Melissa and It was 5:30am before I gave up, invoked contingency (Melissa) and we decided to let her stay up for a bit. We gave her a bottle when she got cranky and put her back to bed at like, half 6, then we didn't hear from her again until about 9am. Nice.

We got up, had breakfast and watched some TV then headed in to Wigan for some stuff for Penny's birthday party in a few weeks, then we on the way home we popped in on Melissa's dad to see how he'd been coping while Melissa's mum had been away. He was asleep on the couch watching a war film. I'd say he was coping admirably.

Home, then. I tried to install a baby gate to keep Penny in her prison playroom but the ridiculous sizes of the doors in our house meant that the gate was much to big. We can stick it at the top of the stairs though, so that's good. She's crawling and climbing now. We're living in constant fear.

This evening Melissa's hoping to catch up on about 30 million episodes of Hollyoaks once we've got Penny to sleep. I'm hoping to watch a film. Probably have an early night though, considering my involuntary early start today.
