Day 510 and 511

Saturday. I slept incredibly well, and so did Penny. Melissa didn't, however, so when Penny woke up at 8:30am, I got up with her and we watched Wonder Pets (my new thing) until Melissa decided to get up.

Then, after some breakfast, we went to Mel's mum and dads to help her dad move some scaffolding. By the time we got there, though, it had been moved. So I borrowed a rake and went home, leaving Penny there and Melissa went off to run some errands.

I got cracking in the garden and I'm very pleased with my progress.

Once Melissa came home, with Penny, we pottered round the house and then I went to (the) ASDA for petrol, and to return a babygate we didn't want and then came home via the chippy. We ate tea and then Stew and John arrived, and off the three of us went to see The Dark Knight Rises. Again. It was just as good second time round, if not better. There was no pressure and it was at a reasonable hour. John enjoyed it, and so did me and Stew.

Got home, had a glass of whiskey and sat in bed with Melissa who was STILL watching the shit she Sky+'d while we were away. Ridiculous.

Sunday, and we both slept like shit due to the warm weather and lack of air conditioning. We woke with Penny at 7am, who refused to go back to sleep. We gave her her breakfast, and some crumpets and managed to get her to nod off for another 20 minutes, and by this time it was about 10am. Naturally, we didn't go to church.

Instead Penny and I went to the local church of commerce (the Concourse) for weedkiller and Dentinox. Not to be confused with each other, I don't imagine. I also had a coffee and a donut with Penny in Subway.

I walked home at about the time someone turned the temperature up on the Sun and was literally dripping with sweat by the time I got through the front door.

Melissa was well rested by this time, and we gathered our stuff up and went for an ice cream at Burscough Wharf with Howard and his son, William. Then, we headed up to Mel's mum and dads again, this time with the promise of burning stuff. Her dad has been hacking away at the conifers for 2 weeks and has a huge pile of dead and dying deciduous foliage. Unfortunately it was too damp to burn and I ended up sat inside wrestling with Penny and watching the golf.

We came home, then, bathed Penny and Melissa went to (the) ASDA who now open 9am to 8pm on a Sunday. This left me at home to feed Penny and put her to bed. My first dry run before Melissa goes back to work tomorrow night. It went swimmingly, with a little help from the Wonder Pets, which I put on for Penny to watch. In it, they were tasked with soothing a baby piglet and getting it to sleep. Much like the task I had accepted. Thank you Wonder Pets.

Melissa will be back soon. We will order Chinese food and gorge ourselves before getting back on the diet regime next week.

See you tomorrow!
