Day 474 and 475.

It was Saturday, so obviously we were up with the larks. Melissa was off to Slimming World with her mum and Penny, and then to see her mate down in Maghull, giving me the house to myself to empty the loft. What an arse ache that was.

The men are coming on Tuesday to fit new insulation and do the cavity wall insulation. Just what you need in the height of summer. But I had to empty the loft to accommodate them. That was fun. Oh wait, no it wasn't.

We were going to go out, in to Wigan, for a mooch and maybe a coffee, and definitely some cat litter, but the weather was bad. Really bad. Like, apocalyptic bad. So we sat in the living room and watched our neighbours put up a new fence. It didn't look like any kind of fun, but it does look very good now it's finished.

Melissa's mum came round for tea, and we Skype'd Canada while she was here. Penny said "hiya" and demonstrated her crawling prowess, then, after tea, I picked Stew up and we went to Loaf's 50th birthday up in Aigburth. Met some interesting people, set off fireworks at 11pm and stole some bricks from a skip. All in a days work. Happy birthday Loaf!

I got home just before midnight, soothed Penny and put her to bed and that was Saturday over with.

Sunday, my first "fathers day". Penny bought me a lovely wine decanter, but couldn't manage breakfast in bed. We had a wrestle though while Melissa got ready for church, then I had a shower and did the same.

Church was alright, but Penny was grouchy as she'd not had her morning nap. Father Barry (probable hitman) did the service, and blessed all the fathers, so that was nice.

After that we headed into Aintree for the cat litter we didn't get yesterday, and a fathers day lunch at Marks and Spencers. We're classy, us.

We popped in to see Melissa's mum, then headed to (the) ASDA for my breakfast yoghurts for the week, then home just in time to greet my mum and dad.

My dad helped me clean the rest of the stuff out the loft (his fathers day treat, happy fathers day, dad!) and we stood in the kitchen chatting, drinking tea, and feeding Penny.

I'm currently in the middle of cooking a lovely fathers day tea of sausage, egg, chips and beans, and God willing I might have a beer, too.

Penny's currently not going to sleep, even though she should be... That might rule out the beer.

We'll see.

See you tomorrow!
