Day 468

Sunday, a day of rest, and, traditionally, church. So this morning, not only did we not rest, we didn't go to church either. Sorry, Father Gordon.

We were waving off our guests from Devon, and by the time they sorted themselves out it was past 10am, and too late to get there. I felt pretty guilty, strangely enough.

All that having been said, Penny slept really well, and woke up with a tooth. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a tooth has been cut. Front, bottom, right. It's not "a tooth" yet, but it's there. The skin has been broken.

She put it to good use on a chunk of malt loaf, and what can only be described as a fruity stick thing.

We had a family day out today, in Southport. First we went to Dobbie's Garden World, because let's face it, who doesn't like garden centres? We had lunch, then took Penny to look at the tropical fish. She LOVES the tropical fish. Then I bought some gooseberry jam (it has been a weekend of preserves) and we headed back to the botanical gardens to take advantage of the nice weather.

We saw ducks. Loads of ducks. Some with mental feet:

Mallard

Bunch of coots

Some other birds.

Penny was due a bottle, so we went looking for somewhere to sit down, inside. We found a church. Apparently, the oldest building in Southport, dating from 1739. I think it was guilt for not going this morning. We didn't feed Penny in there though. There were two old lady curators in there, eager to a answer questions we hadn't asked. We left and found a scummy little pub called the Bold Arms. I heard a man order a super-sized roast dinner, and another man ask for ice in his Scotch, at 2:30pm. They did pull a mean pint of Wainwright though.

We headed home then, Penny slept for a bit. Upon arriving home, me and Penny had a wrestle, then I fed her whilst she tried to wrestle, then she ignored me and played with some balls from the ball pool, then we tried to make her crawl by putting her at one end of the carpet and making her come to us. This only served to piss her off, and make us sound like bad parents to the neighbours.

We bathed her, fed her, put her to bed and I knocked up a gourmet dinner off potato waffles and noodles.

I'll shortly go and do the dishes while Melissa has a bath, and then I'll play XBOX until I get pissed off.

Hope you all had a great weekend, see you tomorrow!
