Melissa stayed at her mums last night to surprise visitors from Devon, meaning when I got home at midnight from Prometheus (really good entertainment, wafer thin plot) I had the house to myself. So I had a glass of whiskey and went to bed.
I woke up just before 8am and then lay in bed watching repeats of Friends.
Before long I was up and about, eating toast and drinking tea. I tidied the house (not well enough, apparently) and then had a shower before Melissa and Penelope arrived home. We fed her and put her down for a little nap. Before long Lea and Hannah arrived to drink tea and eat cheese cake, and then it was my mother and fathers turn. My dad tried to fit clips on the kitchen cupboards to stop Penny slamming them on her fingers. He was ill-prepared and defeated by our lousy cupboards.
Once all the cheesecake had gone, and they'd drunk all our tea they left us, and, inspired by an episode of Man Vs Food I'd watched earlier I went to (the) ASDA for a nacho kit, jalapeƱos and some dips.
I came home, prepared them as a starter for me and Melissa then we bathed Penny and will shortly put her to bed.
This evening we were going to have a romantic meal for two (courtesy Marks and Spencer's) and watch a film, but Melissa realised it was the final of The Voice so that went out the window. We will now eat together and enjoy separate televisual treats.
Penny's been a little grouchy this afternoon. We're assuming teeth (which are still nowhere to be found). Maybe she's annoyed she's not crawling. But she has no one to blame but herself on that front.
The weather's been mostly crap today. I hope it picks up in time for Liz's diamond jubilee!
See you tomorrow.
