Lengthy one today, it's been a looooooooooooong and lovely weekend.
Having been surprised by a visit from Melissa's cousins from down south on Friday evening we were up early (normal time, really) and off to see them. We spent a large part of the day in the garden, Melissa evening up her tan, me getting restless and Penny splashing in the paddling pool.
Once that was done and dusted we showed our faces at Melissa's brothers for a bit of a barbecue, then we took Penny home, along with Maggie and Gracie, the cousins I mentioned previously.
My mum and dad came to visit once Penny was asleep and while Melissa was out decorating the gold club for the do on Sunday (more on that in a minute).
I 'slept' on the couch, allowing Melissa and the girls to get into bed and watch... I don't know. I lay on the couch in my underpants watching X Men 3.
Morning came, a little earlier than usual. We were up and at them, for today (we're Sunday now, by the way) was the day of Penny's Christening.
She wouldn't fit in her car seat with her dress on so Melissa had to dress her outside the church. Everyone was on time (for the most part), the service was pretty good, and we closed on one of our favourite hymns (All Over The World by Damian Lundy, for those who want to know) and then we were off to the aforementioned golf club for some drinks and buffet.
We had a great time, Penny got loads of pressies. She's a very lucky girl. Thanks to all who attended and helped to make Penny's special day just that little bit more special. A special thanks to Penny's excellent Godparents, my aunty Anne, and Tracy and Dave. You guys coped admirably with the stress. Thank you!
Once almost everyone had gone, Melissa's uncle, the DJ, and her dad, took to the karaoke. Soon everyone (the ones who were drinking) got involved.

Monday, then. We were woken up at about 5am. Just what I needed after an all dayer. I felt like dog shit, so left Melissa to police Penny for the morning while I sorted myself out, and then we were off to Ormskirk Hospital for a check up with Penny over her meds. The doctor was very happy with her progress and suggested weaning her off them for a bit, whilst introducing a small amount of dairy here and there.
Then we went into Ormskirk, to the park, for some sun and ice lollies with Emma and Harry. Penny's been sleepy all day, we're blaming the heat. But, she's been a trooper really. She's had a busy, busy weekend. She was good as gold at her Christening. We're very lucky parents.
We met Tracy and Dave at the Coach house for tea. On a hot, sticky day like this, what could be better than a steaming hot lasagne? I don't know the answer to that. I had lasagne.
We headed home after that, chucked Penny in the bath and then into bed. She's currently fast asleep. I wish I was. But alas, to (the) ASDA for yoghurts.
Back to reality tomorrow.
See you then!
And once again a massive thanks to everyone who came to the Christening. From the people who helped, to the people who only came for the buffet, you all helped to make Penny's day a special one, so thanks again from the three of us!
