Day 388

We eventually got Penny to sleep at about 10pm. She'd obviously missed her daddy (me) and wanted to see me for a bit. Either that or her teeth were giving her jip.

Some highlights from the walk that I couldn't be arsed to type yesterday :

  • Rowntree's Randoms have a sell by date, but they're still pretty edible one it's expired
  • Size "large" walking trousers are far too big for me
  • No blisters
  • The Watermill Inn in Ing is a cracking little pub with a micro brewery on site. Cheap beer, expensive chips.
  • I have a cut on the side of my left hand of unknown origin
  • The Lake District is absolutely beautiful under the right weather conditions
  • I should do a bit of training before walking up a fucking big mountain next time
  • Melissa can make a surprisingly good lasagne
Today, I'm still knackered. My legs, knees specifically feel like they've been replaced with bags of gravel. I was thankful for a lift into work from Ellen.

Work was a blur, I was in a daze due to tiredness. It was apparently a glorious day outside but I couldn't bring myself to walk down the stairs and outside to experience it. I'm expecting the muscular pain to kick in tomorrow. I tried to convince Stewart to come with me to the Kapow! comic book convention in the middle of May, he said he didn't want to "stand round like an idiot while I run round like a 4 year old in Toy 'R' Us". I can see his point. Probably for the best. I've made it one of my goals this year to purchase a rare and valuable comic book from somewhere. It replaced "run a marathon" on my list. Priorities, innit.

This evening I fed Penny while Melissa nipped out for some bits and pieces. She got grumpy and bored, I assume because she's seen that episode of Special Agent Oso about 300 times in her short life so I brought her upstairs to listen to some DJ Shadow with me. It's possible she didn't like it as she spent most of the time with me trying to trash my keyboard and rip my USB WIFI adapter out. Kids today, huh?

She's now in bed, Melissa's cooking tea and I'm thinking about watching a film tonight. I've never seen Mad Max so I might give that a go. I will definitely drink a beer or two.

Friday tomorrow. See you then!
