Day 362

Saturday. Lie in? No chance. Penny woke us at stupid o'clock and I made her a bottle and fed her. She went back to sleep for about 20 minutes, but I didn't.

I ended up getting up at like, half 8. Melissa made me a cup of tea while I sat with Penny watching some Disney shit, then, while Melissa got ready me and Penny listened to some Squarepusher, then Melissa decided she'd had enough of that so I put Paul Simon on. Penny had a gentle nap at this point, for about 20 minutes and before long Melissa and Penny had gone out, to Lucy's birthday party. I had been planning on going, but at the last minute I decided I'd rather cut my own arms off than lock myself in a confined space with a thousand screaming kids. But that's just me. Instead I volunteered to do the cleaning round the house.

But not until I'd had some lunch, you understand. I'd set my heart on cheese on toast so I got the panini maker out, turned it on, cleaned the plates and went to get the bread out. It was mouldy. I wept.

I cursed and muttered to myself whilst getting changed and made my way to (the) ASDA on foot to get some bread, noodles, bean sprouts and loads of crisps and dips for tomorrow nights Oscars shindig.

I marched home at full speed and didn't stop for breath. I made the shit out of that cheese on toast and brewed the shit out of that cup of tea. I much and slurped it all down then set about my chores.

I cleaned the kitchen to an obsessive level, including mopping the floor (and breaking the mop bucket in the process), hoovered the house from top to bottom and... Well that's it. But I was pleased with my hard work.

Melissa came home with a very grumpy Penny. We tried to give her some mashed carrots, but she was having none of it, so we tried to give her some of her Mediterranean veg and rice, but she was having none of that either. By this point she was bawling her little eyes out. There was only one thing for it : Petit Filous. She shut right up and made a mess of herself. But she was happy. And so were Melissa and I.

Then, we had our tea, loving prepared by Melissa, and Penny shit all up her back, so we bathed her, Melissa did the washing while me and Penny listened to some Miles Davis and then it was time for her bed.

Melissa's just wandered upstairs muttering "Saturday night TV's FAB!" which I took to mean we wont be watching a film together, which means, I'll probably watch a film on my lonesome with a beer or two, then maybe try for an early night.

Here's hoping!

See you tomorrow, probably. I might yet still do the blow-by-blow Oscars thing, but I cant see that being too exciting. For any of us. We'll see...
