Thursday saw me awake in reasonable spirits. Penny had had a moderately good night, but had been a little restless at times. I got up at 7am, showered, made her bottle and marched to work.
Today was a good day. Quiet, not much to do, glorious weather (for February) and I got a phone call from Sky offering me a free trial of their 40mbit fibre internet service. So that was nice, too.
I walked home at 4pm via (the) ASDA to collect a cabbage and bought myself, against my better judgement, a bottle of sparkling water. It was subtle and refreshing, as it stated on the bottle, but I would have preferred a still water if I'm being honest.
On the back of my conversation with Sky, they said a BT engineer would come and install the service for us using the master socket. Now, our master socket is under the stairs and has never worked. So I found the cable outside, traced it inside, through the hole in the wall in the downstairs toilet and behind some wooden panels. I wasn't sure if cable had somehow become broken behind the wooden panels, so I levered them off with a screwdriver, snapping most of them in the process and making quite a mess. The cable was intact, and as I'm not a trained BT Openreach engineer, I decided to leave it to the pro's. So, 19th March. Lightening fast internet. I hope.
Penny's sicking has come back with a vengeance. Melissa took her to the doctors today and saw a locum who upped the dosage of one of her meds, and phoned our specialist and got us an appointment with him on the 8th of March. Result. Let's see how she goes. She's fine and dandy most of the time, but the sicking is pain in the arse. And it's entirely possible some of her grumps are because of the excessive acid that's produced during teething. We thought she'd have one by now, but we're still waiting. Lazy. We have however managed to find something that makes her laugh. She's incredibly ticklish under her arms and on her neck. Fun.
This evening Melissa's gone out to see her friend while I've fed Penny and put her to bed and spent a lovely 50 minutes on the phone to my mother. I cut the conversation short when I remembered I had dishes to do.
I'm now considering playing some XBox, and then having an early night. I've no idea when Melissa's coming home.
See you tomorrow!
