Friday. A lie in of of sorts. Penny was a little restless during the night, but nothing major.
We were up and out the house (after bacon butties) by 11:30am, dropping Penny with nanna and then me and Melissa were off to the bright lights of Manchester on the train. Birthday treat, innit.
We got into Manchester at about 2pm, checked into our hotel (Ibis, Portland Street) and went for a wander, stopping at Cafe Nero for coffee and a slice of cake, then back to the hotel to shower and change (and watch a bit of Jurassic Park in Arabic) and then out again for some tea. We went to a bar for a drink first, then found a Chinese restaurant (not hard, we were on the outskirts of Chinatown) . It was called the Yang Sing, and it was excellent. We got a banquet for 2. Noms.
After food we made our way to the Manchester Palace Theatre to watch the West End production of Oliver.

| They weren't joking... |
It was excellent. In many ways. We even saw the dog that played Bullseye standing outside the theatre before it started, and then, when we left, he was stood outside The Old Monkey (which is a pun we went for a drink in). Incidentally, on the way to The Old Monkey, two Chinese people stopped me and Melissa and asked us for directions to Chinatown, which I thought was unusual.
Saturday morning came round a little too quickly for mu liking, but we showered, packed and headed to the lobby for an all you can eat breakfast buffet. The sausages were amazing, but the scrambled egg was a bit rubbish. But, good sausages, so I'll let them off.
Then it was off to a quaint little theatre/arthouse/ cafe type establishment for a coffee before the train home.

| Cold as balls. |
It was balls cold today and we'd be promised (threatened with) snow all day, and sure enough, on the way home, we drove through several snowy area and a few minor blizzards. Typically, however, when we got back to Upholland station is was just balls cold and raining freezing cold rain.
We stopped in to see Penny at nana's before shooting into Liverpool. Melissa went to see a friend and I went shopping as Melissa wasn't keen on driving in the sleet/snow/shite.
I bought some comics, a book for Melissa and the new shoes I went to buy.
I now have three pairs of Adidas shoes, all Star Wars themed. These are the least obvious. And a bargain, in the sale.
We came home then, we picked a grouchy Penny up and I went to (the) ASDA for some stuff. Breakfast, mainly. And a microwave, to replace our old one, which was on its last legs.
It's another stupid cold night, and I don't foresee us going anywhere tomorrow due to ice, snow, and epic freezing temperatures. I might, and this is by no means a legally binding contract, but I might tidy my office and put up my new curtain rail. It does feel a lot like an extra day off though, I thought, before, that today was Sunday. I wept with joy when I realised otherwise.
See you tomorrow!
