Yesterday, day 303, Thursday, involved a moderately early start after a night on the couch. Melissa had our 9 year old nieces staying over. They slept in our bed, with Melissa, while I slept on the couch. I say slept, I mean squirmed uncomfortably, whilst alternating between boiling alive and freezing to death.
Still, morning came, and I had had some sleep, so that's fine. We all got ready in our varying degrees, the Melissa and the girls dropped me at the train station in Ormskirk and I went into Liverpool to meet Stew and Loaf for lunch and a few drinks.
After we'd said our goodbyes to Loaf, including an awkward, but ultimately quite lovely hug, me and Stew were collected by Lea and we headed over to Wallasey for some pre-new year, post-Christmas drinks. The three of us were joined by John, and we all had a good time, putting the world to rights and talking about potential "social events" in the coming year, such as Penny's Christening, and mine and Lea's 30th birthdays. John has plans for his birthday too.
We headed off at about 10pm, me and Stew stopped for some haute cuisine, and then we walked home, rating the various Christmas decorations in the various houses.

I woke, then, at like, 9am, risked a shower, then headed up to the shop for some milk and orange juice. I helped myself to some (stale) Coco Pop derivatives and a tea bag and then at a little before 11am my aunty Anne came round to drop off a Christmas present for Penny.
I made sure the house was locked up firmly and headed round the corner to the bus stop, running the last 150 metres as I saw the bus zooming past. It's been a long time since I ran for the bus.
It was only when I'd boarded the train and taken my seat that I realised I'd left half a bottle of milk out on the counter in the kitchen. That'll be cheese in no time.
I bummed around in Liverpool for about an hour, waiting for Melissa, Penny, neices, aunties and uncles to arrive, helping myself to some Krispy Kremes and Koffee for my trouble. I had to have something to wash the Sudafed down, after all.
When everyone arrived they all went ice skating. I watched. Wisely. Uncle Dave, whilst showing off, slipped and smashed Melissa in the shin, leading her to hobble off the ice proclaiming "I think I've got a huge gash". Which is literally what she said. Literally.
Turns out she didn't have a huge gash, just a big old bruise.
When the rain got the better of us we headed home, stopping at Melissa's mum and dad's to drop bits off and have some tea.
Home, then, to bathe Penny and finally relax. It'll be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight for the first time in 3 days. It'll be even nicer to share the bed room with my lovely wife and daughter. Instead of a howling wind, strange creeks, and freezing cold air. One thing our bedroom never is is cold.
Tomorrow is new years eve, so you'll excuse me for not doing a post. Normal service will however resume on Day 306.
Have a great night tomorrow, whatever you find yourselves doing. 2011 is done, and it's been a wonderful, exciting and eventful one, that's for sure. Here's looking forward to 2012.
Happy New Year everyone, thanks for reading!
