Day 284

We all slept well last night, despite some initial problems getting Penny off. She was really tired and took a bit of time to settle, but settle she did. Until about 6am, when Melissa got up, fed her, and put her back in her crib. She didn't sleep then and instead spent the next 2 and a half hours chunnering away. While it was cute, it was also exhausting. But she was happy, so we were.

Later on we dropped her at nanny's house so we could get some Christmas shopping done in Liverpool. Despite hideous weather we did quite well, especially considering it wasn't a busy as we'd expected. Melissa had an egg nog latte from Starbucks. She was not a fan. Neither was I.

There's loads of Christmassy shit going down in Liverpool, it's a shame Penny isn't a bit older to appreciate them. Next year though...

We came home, picked up Penny and went to the concourse for some stuff that Melissa said we needed. but we didn't really. We also forgot the only thing we genuinely "needed" too. So that was a pointless excursion.

Homeward, then, and Melissa prepared the potatoes for tea while I fed and amused Penny. At 6pm I came up to my "office" to relentlessly refresh an internet site in order to try and procure some free tickets to a 6 minute preview of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. I succeeded and was elated.

That done, Melissa bathed Penny while I tidied up a bit and made up her bedtime bottle. She kicked off royally, and without consultation, it's hard for us to know why. It does seem like she's in pain, but it seems to be from the acid, and because she pukes up a lot after her feeds, we think her stomach is producing excess acid, and because her oesophagus isn't fully formed, it bubbles up into her throat and burns, causing screaming. The bottle then fills her stomach and the acid has work to do, so doesn't bubble up and cause her pain.

An upside of the screaming, is that she knackers herself out. But it's not nice to see her in pain, and I cant wait for someone, anyone (ideally a doctor) to tell us what's wrong with her. That might be Thursday. Fingers crossed.

I don't know what this evening holds, but I like to think something relaxing is on the cards.

See you tomorrow, have a great weekend.
