Day 279

Sunday. Took a while for Penny to go to sleep last night, then this morning she woke up at 6am. I fed her and we all went back to sleep until almost 10am, which put us somewhat behind schedule for the day.

We Skyped my mum and dad for half an hour further delaying us. We showed them Penny's rolling over trick and after we'd disconnected Penny went ballistic. She was proper pissed off and we couldn't figure out why. She's teething a bit, as explained yesterday, so we gave her some Dentinox teething gel which worked a bit, but then she started again. We gave her some Calpol then, and she went straight to sleep. Perhaps she has a bit of a cold or something. Who knows. Anyway, this hissy fit delayed us yet further but we were eventually on our way to Aunty Anne and Uncle Dennis's house.

It was a lovely drive and I showed Melissa some of my old haunts, including "where I used to buy chocolate before school" and "the bus stop", and despite having not been there for what I think is over 10 years I found the house with little or no hassle, only making one wrong turn, but I realised my mistake immediately so I'm not even counting that.

We had some tea and mince pies once Aunty Anne had settled Penny while Melissa knocked up a bottle. Uncle Lawrence and Aunty April came round too and we all had a good gab. We left, finding a different and substantially quicker route and headed to Melissa's mum and dads where we had a good old fashioned roast followed by a good old fashioned rice pudding.

We came home, hoovered a bit, I cleaned out the cats shit box, we de-fleaed them (fun) and the bath is currently running for Penny. She's settled now, and we think the moaning was due to acid, although it may have been poo-pains, as she decimated a nappy at nanny and grandpas house during the closing scenes of Hook. Hopefully, after her busy day, she'll sleep well tonight and Melissa can watch whatever shit is on tonight in peace.

The weather has been horrendous at times today, properly belting down, windy and it's only 3degrees Celsius which is the coldest we've seen the new car thermometer display. All the weather sites and shows are anticipating snow tonight, so there's a chance I'll be walking to work tomorrow through a crisp blanket of fresh white snow. There's a better chance, however that I'll be squelching to work tomorrow through a soggy mess of freezing cold sleety mud.

I'm hoping for the former.

See you tomorrow!
