Day 235, 236 and 237

Greetings, true believers.

Sorry for the lack of posts, it's been a busy couple of days. Alright, strictly speaking Friday wasn't that busy. I don't remember how we slept on Thursday night, but Friday morning came around as normal. I looked out the window and made a judgement call about the weather. It looked cold so I wrapped up and marched to work. It was not cold and by the time I got to work I was all sweaty. The rest of the day was spent waiting to firstly collect Batman : Arkham City from Gamestation, and then waiting to get home to play it.

I met Melissa after work and we did a little food shopping. From (the) Iceland. Not (the) ASDA. Then came home. I put Batman in the XBOX and downloaded some updates and addon packs, then fed Penny while watching Pointless. Melissa pottered, cleaned the kitchen and stuff and then I cooked tea. We were going to watch Grey's Anatomy while we ate, but it hadn't recorded, so we watched The Simpsons. At about 7pm Melissa and Penny went to bed and I started my Batman odyssey. It was soon midnight and time for bed. Batman took a while to get going, but it was hard to put down when it did.

Saturday morning we woke at about 6am, annoyingly, and I fed Penny, then we all went back to bed for a few hours. It was about half 9 when we got up, I fed Penny again at tennish and Melissa made us a cuppa.

A bit later I made breakfast. Which was essentially lunch, and Melissa waited for her mum to come round. They were off to Ikea again, leaving me free to do the gardening. While they were waiting Melissa realised she'd lost her purse so we spent an hour looking for that, then we went out to the car, I moved the car seat over, tinkered with the baby-view mirror and then Melissa's mum turned up with the hedge trimmers.

I got to work.

The garden is unrecognisable. And my kneecaps are still intact. I hacked the bushes to death, cleaned the front door, the bin cupboard and the door step and decided that was enough hard work. I sat on the couch with some cheese on toast and a can of Rockstar and played me some more Batman.

Melissa, her mother and Penny came home then and I volunteered to put together the furniture Melissa's mum had bought. I think it was the Rockstar talking. We went to Melissa's mums house and I got to work. My back's a mess again, but the spare room has a lovely chest of drawers and bedside cabinet.

I was rewarded for my hard work with food, then I quickly showered and Melissa took me into Burscough to meet Howard and Pete for Howard's birthday drinks. It was a good night, ruined by the kebab house being shut. At 12:15. I mean what kind of self respecting kebab house closes BEFORE the pubs kick out? I was furious. I got a taxi home, with free life lessons thrown in from the taxi driver for good measure. I say free, but the taxi ride was pretty dear. Maybe he did charge. I was drunk though, so I don't remember most of them.

I made cheese on toast to compensate for the lack of kebab but it wasn't the same. I also had OCD/paranoia that I'd left the grill on, so didn't sleep well.

Melissa had stayed at her mums house, as her dad was away for the weekend. And also, when I've had a drink I tend to snore. Last night was no exception. How do I know? My throat is killing me. I must have been rasping away like a rusty chainsaw.

I awoke this morning at about 8am. I dozed then until 9am and got up and made a cuppa.

I caught up on internets and soon I will hoover in anticipation of Melissa and Penny's triumphant return, and of my parents coming to visit.

If my back holds out I might finish tidying my 'office' and construct an Ikea shelf today. I might have a shower. I might even have a shave. But I doubt it.

Tonight is An Idiot Abroad, and after that, if I'm not too tired, some Batman, then bed.

Normal service will resume tomorrow.

TTFN.
