Penny is regular as clockwork with her feeds now, and consequently, at 4am, she was awake demanding milk, and then again at about half 8. When I say regular as clockwork, I don't actually mean it. But, she's fairly consistent.
I fed her, anyway, while Melissa made us a cuppa each and loaded the steriliser. Once that was done, we got up, I made breakfast while Melissa and Penny watched TV then Melissa went to (the) ASDA for some weekly supplies and I set about the mammoth task of tidying my office.
I say "office", I mean "room". I've filled 3 bin bags easily and I'd say I'm about halfway through the process. There's still stuff to clear out, definitely, but there's also stuff to put in the loft, and stuff to take to the tip. I also need to buy a bookshelf for the many hundreds of books I found in various boxes, so that's going to happen one evening this week. Family day at Ikea. Meatballs, innit.
Mid afternoon, when I'd tidied as much as could be tidied, the three of us headed to Mel's mum and dad's house. I was needed to burn stuff. They'd been doing some home improvements and there was some old wooden floor that had to be disposed of. Always a pleasure, never a chore.
I burned for a couple of hours, and it was good, then I was rewarded with dinner, then we came home.
I'm sure at some point today I've changed Penny's nappy. I thought the first time would be more memorable. Apparently not. I'm glad I picked the nappy I did though, as Melissa has just changed her and boy had she done a shit. It was incredible. I'm always amazed at how much faeces my daughter can excrete, but today I was speechless.
She's really coming on in terms of development, she's awake much more and her head movements are more precise and appear to have purpose. She's starting to find her voice too, and is trying to initiate communication with Steve, her pink dragon. He doesn't seem too interested though.
An Idiot Abroad 2 tonight, followed, I think, by a film while Melissa watches two hours of the Kim Kardashian wedding. Hopefully she'll put Penny to bed and she won't be subjected to the drivel.
Back to work tomorrow. Awesome.
