After a moderately early night, and what could be legitimately termed as 'A Good Night's Sleep' (with only one interruption from Penny, at about 4am for feeding) my alarm went off at 7am. I awoke, keen to attend work as I was only in for half a day, but I made the fatal mistake of hitting 'snooze', dozed back off and woke at 8am, which is when I was due in work. I wouldn't have made it into work until 9am, and was on a half day which meant finishing at 11:30am, plus I still didn't feel 100%, so I elected to stay off.
I sprung out of bed at 8am anyway and made my lovely wife breakfast in bed. Springing probably wasn't a great idea, given my fragile state. But spring I did.
Breakfast was done, and at 10am Melissa, her mum and Penny went to the salon to show Jayne the baby, and to get Melissa's eye brows and nails done. Remember to compliment her if you see her.
At 12ish they came home, Melissa fed Penny and the three of us (Me, Melissa and Penny) went to the garage in Wigan where we bought our car. We dropped it in for an extensive valet and to have the clutch checked.
While this was occurring we walked to Frankie and Benny's for lunch. Two courses for £7.95. Nom.
That done, the 3 of us wandered to Robin Park for some Christmas shopping. We've already spoiled Penny rotten. At about half 2 I received a call from the garage to say the car was ready, so I left Melissa and Penny wandering round Next and headed to collect the car. Just before 3 Melissa phoned me to inform me that her brother's girlfriend had given birth to a healthy baby girl who they'be tentatively named Amelia. Mother and baby doing fine. I'm an uncle. Never been on of them before. Awesome.
Once we had the car we headed to (the) ASDA for what was initially supposed to be a 'big shop' but turned into a 'baby shop' and we only picked up nappies, cotton wool and baby food. And some beers for daddy.
We came home, dropped the shopping off and went to the pub for a quick celebratory drink. Home by 8pm, had a play with Penny while Melissa pottered. We're going to try and get her down a little earlier tonight, see what happens.
I'm hoping to watch a film.
Got my parents (grandma and granddad) coming to visit tomorrow. I think granddad is just mooching for birthday cards.
See you tomorrow!
Congratulations to Thomas and Vicky on the birth of baby Amelia!
