Day 214

Another good night for us, Penny again went about 5 hours. It's not quite enough to class it as a good nights sleep, but still, it wasn't bad.

Had to get a lift in this morning, as discussed yesterday, so I could get my cake in. It looked a lot better than the last one, as I'd refined my technique. It was almost heralded with a fanfare; it had become the stuff of legend. Everyone in the office knew about it, everyone wanted a slice.

I came third in the competition behind some remarkable Viennese (Vietnamese?) whirls and an outstanding baked vanilla cheesecake which I'd lost to in the past.

Still, it was eaten by many and highly praised. I thought it was better than the practice run, too. So, you know... I beat myself and that's all that matters. Honestly.

Melissa brought the baby into work today to meet everyone. She spewed on me. The baby, not Melissa. Other than that though, she was well behaved.

Melissa then dropped the baby off at her mothers and went to get a tattoo. As you do. It's very nice, and once it's healed, if I remember, I'll share a picture with you. There's one available on Facebook already, but it's still a bit scabby on there.

She picked me up from work and we went to get Penny. I was coerced into mowing the lawn while we were there, and then Melissa cut her mums hair and I sat with Penny.

Calm before the storm...

Shortly after this photo was taken, Penny went mental. Screaming and screaming and screaming and screaming for about 3 hours. Not quite none stop, but enough to start annoying me. Melissa, natural mother that she is, just took it in her stride, winding her, soothing her, holding her and so on. She's only just settled down now, now that we've got home and fed her again. It's too damn hot for this sort of thing. Seriously.

This evening we were going to watch An Idiot Abroad 2, but, somewhat annoyingly, it's on at the same time as Big Brother Live eviction and the première of Strictly Come Dancing. Meaning we can neither record it, or watch it. Fortunately I've convinced Melissa to watch them upstairs so I can watch a film in the lovely cool living room. This is a partial win.

I hope An Idiot Abroad 2 is repeated at some point.

Have a great weekend!
