Day 206

Thursday, as predicted.

Penny slept for a while last night, but woke up at I think about half 4. We got her to doze for another 45 minutes or so, but at 5:15am it became apparent she was going to need food. Melissa did the needful while I dozed myself, then got up at about 7:20am, showered, said goodbye to Melissa and Penny, then closed the bedroom door and left the house for work.

The glorious sun rise over Birch Green, partially obscured by my finger. I do enjoy walking into work.

I settled in at my desk and started doing stuff when at 10am Melissa phoned me to tell me she needed the toilet. I advised her that, while it was lovely she felt the need to share, it was unnecessary to keep me that up to date. It was then that she told me that she was locked in the bedroom, while Penny lay in the bath as it slowly filled with water. I sprung into action, dived out the window of the 5th floor at work onto the roof of a passing HGV. I army rolled off and onto the grass verge then sprang to my feet and started sprinting homeward. I heard the sound of a motorbike approaching from the rear, and making sure to time my jump correctly I launched myself into the middle of the road, dismounting the rider, gaining control of the vehicle and speeding off to the house. I arrived in what felt like a matter of seconds, dumped the bike and ran to the front door. I my haste to get away from work I'd left my keys on my desk and so kicked in the door, dove upstairs, rescued Penny in the nick of time, depositing her safely in her Moses basket, wrapped in a towel. I then liberated my wife from the bedroom, saw that she was OK, guided her to Penny, made sure they were both in good health, and then walked off into the sunset.

Not really. Penny was in bed in the same room as Melissa who sort of needed a wee. Howard gave me a lift home, I unlocked the front door in the normal way, then walked to the bedroom, opened the door and found Melissa in bed, laughing at some shite on TV while Penny sat gurgling, having just finished her morning bottle. That's not as exciting though.

My project for the weekend is to fit better handles with appropriate spindles on the bedroom and bathroom doors.

I went back to work, adrenaline coursing through my veins, saved a kitten from a tree and then slipped into depression as I could never regain the earlier high.

All that changed though, when I came home and found it was hot dogs for tea! Yay!

Obviously I've doused them in Stagg chilli. Nommage.

Once that was eaten I spoke to my parents, and then Me and Penny watched something forgettable on TV while Melissa cleaned the kitchen and had a lovely bath.

Penny now ways 8lb and is officially a "chunk". Melissa was advised not to take her to the doctor over her sicking just yet, and that it can take baby's a few weeks to adjust to eating food instead of having it pumped directly into their stomachs via an unfathomable and totally amazing system of cells and tubes. My words, not hers.

This evening I expect Melissa will watch Big Brother with Penny while I watch a film. I MIGHT watch Das Boot.

See you tomorrow!
