Day 194

Not a particularly good night... Penny wouldn't go to sleep. She wasn't crying, or whinging, she just wouldn't go to sleep. So Melissa couldn't settle. She's really tired today. Penny, not so much, as she slept for most of the morning.

We were due up early anyway, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise.

Penny and Cousin Joss

It took us two hours to get ready, but get ready we did, and we were out the door at a little after 11am, on the way to visit aunty Claire, her daughter, cousin Joss, aunty Louise and her son cousin Connor. Aunty Tina was also their. Great aunty Tina? I don't really know. All these relatives confuse me. They all had a coo and a cuddle of Penny and then we headed up to Wigan, to Arnold Clarke, to see a man about a car. More on that as the story progresses.

Afterwards we came home, packed up Penny into a different pram, and then headed, on foot, in the glorious sunshine, to (the) ASDA for a walk, mainly, but also some nibbles. As we headed back, typically, the tail end of hurricane Katia hit (I'm not a meteorologist, that's probably not accurate) and we got soaked, but Penny remained relative dry.

She's eating loads at the moment, it's quite hard to sate her appetite, which is a good thing, but it's also a bit of a pain in the arse, as it's not that easy to just feed her... We can't just give her a stick of carrot or something to chew on. And the dummy only shuts her up until she realises there's not milk coming out of it.

I cooked a lovely pizza for tea and we had a glass of Mountain Dew each. It was a very Canadian sort of tea, and reminded me of our visits to Canada.

Afterwards, we bathed Penny. We've got her this child-shaped sponge that goes inside the bath which we used for the first time tonight. She loved it.

During. She just lay on it and didn't make a sound... Awww.

Just awww...

After Penny's bath, Melissa had a bath and me and Penny watched Futurama, then Melissa joined us for Strictly Come Dancing. Holly Valance is in it, and I love her. Melissa is currently watching X Factor and feeding Penny. For a change.

Here's some photos of the awesome pressie from aunty Jen and uncle Dave in New Zealand.

It's a beautiful, hand made quilt, with loads of little details in it, like her birthday, birth weight and a message from aunty Jen and uncle Dave. It also says her name in big letters across the front.

It was made by Jenni's friend and more designs and examples can be found here : www.DoItMomma.co.uk

This evening Melissa is going to settle down in bed with Penny and watch... God knows. Big Brother, probably, Red or Black, almost certainly, and probably some of The Million Pound Drop. I've got the TV to myself and I'm going to watch a film. Maybe two. But probably one. Because I'm positively shattered.

See you tomorrow!
