Day 192

Moderately successful night for all 3 of us. Melissa had a couple of hours doze before I came to bed. I was watching Batman Begins, obviously, then I made my packed lunch and prepared a bottle for Penny.

I went upstairs with the bottle, only be chastised by Melissa for bring the bottle too early. I reasoned that the sooner we fed her, the sooner we could get to sleep, and she was too tired to argue, so changed her and fed her.

We both slept until about 4am, when Penny stirred. Melissa gave her a bottle, she gulped it down, and we went back to sleep until my alarm went off at 7am. Penny was stirring when I got up, and once I'd had my shower Melissa was cuddling her in bed.

I left for work, on foot and came across this :

Instead of taking the detour I took yesterday, when the water was at a considerably lower level, I decided to sidle along the curb, hugging the pillars as I passed each one. However, when I got to the end I realised that the curb had underwater, the only surface for me to walk on was muddy grass, and there was no way to turn back. I decided to deftly leap from my perch onto dry land, except I'm not as agile as I once was, and landed in the ankle deep water firmly with both feet.

And so off I went to work, incubating a sure-fire case of trench foot.

Work was quite slow today, but my bagel and cup of tea helped. At lunch time Howard and I took a promenade around the Concourse, while my still sodden feet throbbed and swelled further as the trench foot set in.

After lunch and foot disease related paranoia I did some work and then Melissa picked me up. We shot up to Warrington, to The Baby Store, where we should, by rights, have shares, to pick up a nursing chair Melissa had ordered some weeks ago.

We came home, I cooked Spam fritters, chips, beans and egg for tea, then I fed the baby while Melissa had a bath. Then I assembled said chair, only to be told it was "the wrong shade of walnut". I happen to like it though, and also I'll never get it back in the box, so it's staying.

That done, I've opened a beer and am patiently awaiting a Skype date with my brother David and his fiancée Jenni...

When that's over, I think I might enjoy myself another beer, and some TV, then bed.

Friday tomorrow. Sweet.
