At about 7:30 Melissa asked if I would watch the baby while she got a bit of sleep, so I put a vintage episode of You Bet on Challenge TV on, while the baby slept between Melissa and me in bed. The next thing I knew it was 9am and I was awake because I thought I'd heard the door. We'd both fallen asleep with Penny between us. It was quite lovely.
There was no one at the door, but I stayed up anyway. I made tea and coffee and watched Penny while Melissa pottered about and tidied up. Something for the Weekend was on and I like that. Then Melissa made crumpets and all was right with the world.

That was us then for quite some considerable time. We sat watching TV waiting for the midwife to come and visit, but before she did my mum and dad arrived (Grandma and Granddad if you remember). They'd brought with them a lovely balloon from my brother and his fiancée in New Zealand. I don't think the balloon was from New Zealand, but the lovely gesture was. Thanks guys. I was going to take a picture of it, but completely forgot. My mum did though, so I'm sure it'll end up on line.
Soon it was time for my dad to have a go with Penny.
Proud as punch, he is. Still hasn't stopped smiling either. My mum had another go, but I didn't bother taking a photo as it would almost certainly have been a waste of time.
Afterwards my mother in law came to babysit while Melissa and I went to her house to shower, then came home to find Lea and Hannah had come to visit with lovely presents. Melissa finally persuaded Hannah to give Penny back, and she changed her nappy and we sat chatting for a bit.
They left, I came to write this, I might have a beer in a minute. Then it's bed time. Early to bed, early to rise.
Monday tomorrow, so they tell me.
See you then!
