Went to bed after listening to Paul Simon's Father and Daughter, which almost made me cry. But that was probably the scotch.
Forgot to turn my phone to silent and so woke up regularly after about 8am to texts and email alerts. My head was not in a good way. At about 9am I got up, made a cuppa, checked Facebook, then decided to fit a light switch in the bathroom. Obviously. Job done with very few issues.
I received the following picture messages from Melissa throughout the course of the morning :

Melissa then informed me she was going for a shower and I had to watch the baby. So I did. I didn't take my eyes off her. For 20 minutes. The second longest 20 minutes ever. She just made funny faces and noises and stuff though, so it was fine.
The rest of the day was spent sitting round. In laws visited at 2pm, cooed and ooed over Penny. My father in law cried. But he cried at Susan Boyle's performance on X Factor so there you go. I'll get into trouble for that.
They left at 3pm and Melissa and I sat chatting. I got to hold Penny for a bit, which was lovely.
Soon after Melissa tried to feed her. She was having none of it, and then she had a shit. Nappy was changed, and shortly after that she did another shit. And a big wee. It was lovely.
The latter happened just in time for my mum and dad, hereafter known as grandma and granddad. There was more cooing and ooing and some snuggling. Grandma is notoriously bad at being photographed. Here is the best of a bad bunch :
She was dead good at being a grandma, I don't recall her ever being particularly maternal but I was very impressed. Grandad didn't stop grinning from the moment he got into the room.
Afterwards I came home via (the) ASDA for a pizza and more scotch. I'm going to eat said pizza and then construct my daughters crib.
Once again a big thank you to Ormskirk Hospital. Jenny our midwife has been amazing.
Melissa's still at the hospital with Penny, as she won't latch on the Melissa's nipple. If they can't get her on there by tomorrow they're going to get her on formula via a bottle and then, hopefully, they can come home!
If you'll excuse me, I have a crib to build and a pizza to eat.
See you tomorrow!
