Watched Sherlock Holmes with a bottle of pear cider and then watch Penn and Teller in bed with Melissa. Slept well.
We both woke up at about half 9 again. Another good nights sleep. Dossed about for a bit, had tea and toast and then set to work cutting in the edges of the dining room. That was finished just in time for my mum and dad, who arrived to help out. My mum painted the rest of the walls while my dad wired in the two new lights we'd bought.
Bathroom light was a doddle. Fan in the bedroom was going really well until we tried to turn it on.Nothing. They're heavy bastards, ceiling fans, and there was a lot of upping and downing and upping and downing while we tried to sort it out. No joy whatsoever. Everything appeared to be connected correctly for it just wouldn't work. My dad asked for another bulb, to try that out, so I came into my "office" to retrieve the bulb from in here. I clicked the switch to make sure it was working and the light didn't come on, nor did the light in Melissa's dressing room. It was most perplexing. Two existing lights refused to work, along with the new ceiling fan/light. Very confusing. The long and short of it is, we're lightless in 3 rooms of the house and we're going to have to get an electrician in during the week to take a look.
My parents left. My dad confused, annoyed and perplexed. My mother exhausted from all the painting. Thanks guys!!
Melissa and I went to her mum and dads to shower, then got takeaway on the way home. We're both knackered and I foresee an early night.
I'm going to peel all the masking tape off in the dining room and watch a film, while Melissa watches CSI and Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
See you tomorrow.
