Day 124

Saturday. Glorious Saturday.

I watched Sin City last night and joined Melissa in bed.

We had a lovely lie in and headed out the door at about 10:30am, first to Mel's mum and dads so I could have a shower, then to Kirby market for Melissa to find a fascinator and bag for the wedding next weekend. She picked a lovely turquoise set that matched her turquoise dress perfectly and she was very happy. Then we headed to Wallasey  to see some friends (Lea and Hannah) where I had my first beer of the day, thanks to Lea. Then we popped in to see my dad. My mum was at work. While we were there we got a text message from Tracy inviting us to a barbecue at Matt and Nic's. Who were we to refuse?

We finished out drinks, said out goodbyes, and because she'd been thinking about it all morning, Melissa had convinced herself that a pink fascinator and handbag would better compliment her outfit for the wedding, so  back we went to Kirby market, bought the necessary and headed briefly to our house, and then up to Mel's mum and dads (again) so Melissa could shower.

We were soon on our way to Matt and Nic's to enjoy a delicious barbecue and some lovely booze. Once the lovely food and booze had been consumed Matt decided to open this :

He'd won it at "Crank Fair" in the tombola, along with a bottle of 12 year old single malt and a warm can of John Smith's Bitter. Dave had a shot, it nearly killed him. Me and Matt steered clear. The Matt went inside and came out with a Russian roulette type game with 6 shot glasses. He'd secretly filled one glass with Grappino and the other five with tap water. We played 3 games and I avoided the Grappino each time. The fourth game I hit the Grappino on my first go. Dave and Matt had about 4 shots each in total. I had one.

Once the Grappino ran out, someone had the great idea of using gripe water and tequila instead. My first and only game I had one of each. Gripe water tastes like shite. Tequila, straight, tastes marginally better.

We stopped playing at that point and shortly thereafter went home. We stopped at The Coop for a few beers for me, and a pizza to share. Peckish, innit.

Melissa is watching True Blood, I'm listening to Jimi Hendrix. I should mention at this point Melissa didn't play the drinking games, and spent the evening drinking slimline tonic water to help with her restless legs.

Also, this is what I think the bath we want looks like in the flesh :

Matt and Nic apparently have the same taste as us, as it was them that also inspired us to get our conservatory walls plastered. Thanks guys!

Pizza time, see you tomorrow!
