My alarm went off at 7:15am today, I turned it off and rolled over, anticipating Melissa's alarm going off about 15 minutes later. It didn't as she did a late shift today. I dived out of bed at 7:35am and stormed into work on foot, arriving a little after 8am. I was still asleep and this morning went very slowly. The afternoon didn't pick up either.
The women in work cooed over the '4d' scans and the fellas didn't really give a shit.
Came home at 4pm to find that the bath, toilet and sink had been removed, along with almost all the rubbish from the back garden, and a step had been put in in the dining room. Someone had been busy.
I went upstairs, with a broom and a dustpan with a view to brushing up the rest of the crap in the bathroom and just making it a bit tidier. I had not anticipated the heat in there so I stripped down to my Batman boxer shorts and a pair of brown leather loafers. Rubble and dust had accumulated behind the door, so I closed the door shut, brushed the rubbish out and into the big pile I'd made and then went to open the door to retrieve the rubble sack from the landing. I'd forgotten, however, that the handle on the door didn't work from the inside and so I was stuck, almost naked and very sweaty, in the room that used to contain a bath.
I panicked for a second, thinking I'd be stuck there until Melissa got home from work at 8pm, but then I realised I had the car, so she couldn't get home without my assistance. I didn't have a phone so I couldn't phone anyone for help, the front door was locked, so I couldn't lean out the window and scream for a neighbour to come in and help. I couldn't climb out the window, because I was basically naked, and I'm a bit of a fatty and the window is only small. All this flashed through my mind, until I spotted the screwdriver on the window sill, unscrewed the door handle, and opened the door. Close call, though.
The room is now sort of spotless.
I made myself some pasta, ate that and came up here to write this. I'm listening to Neil Young and waiting until 8pm, at which point I'll go and get Mel, then head up to her mum and dads for a shower, then back home to... I don't know. Sit.
