Day 106

Played Bioshock last night and joined Melissa in bed to watch a documentary about the Waltons (not those Waltons, the sextuplets for Wallasey) mainly so I could point out Wallasey landmarks and say  "I've been there" a lot.

Walked into work. It was very warm.

Got a lift home with Jeff as Melissa's brother was here with his lacky doing the new doors. After the unfortunate write off that was yesterday, they got a hell of a lot done today. They'd also left me this to play with :

Pig in shit.
While they were waiting for the cement to go off round the door frame they decided realised they'd have to clear away some of the floor of the structure to get down to ground level, so the doors would fit properly.

So when I looked inside I saw this:

Not a great photo, but the whole structure had been resting on wooden struts which were sat directly on the soil. No wonder the room smelled damp. And was, in fact damp. Really damp.

They'd kindly cleared all the stuff into the dining room (which is going to need a hell of a clean) and shifted my drum kit into the conservatory. Anyone wanna buy a drum kit, just let me know.

This is the inside of the lean to as they left it :

You can see the damp on the walls, mainly caused we think because there was no ventilation in the room. Cowboys, Ted. Shoddy, shoddy workmanship!

Anyway, the lions share of the structure is going to end up like this :

Like I said, pig in shit. There's still a load of wood to burn, and all things being equal the doors will be in tomorrow so that's excellent. It was more complicated than anticipated, but we're getting there.

I started the above fire at about half 4. It's still burning now. Awesome.

I'm now going to watch the new series of Luther with Melissa, the cats and a beer.

See you tomorrow.
